Over the past couple of years I have gone hunting at Ruigtevley on 3 seperate occasions . Everytime I have gone home happy as a clam around the experiences I had made and relationships built.From the beautiful nature views, sunsets, tonnes of animals and excellent accomodation it’s really a great place to go hunting.With the addition of a Pitblind now, this will just be addding to the experience! Every time I think of my hunting trips on Ruigtevley Game Farm I can’t help but always first see the picture of the view of the Kransberge of Marakele from the deck at the “Boomhuis” in my mind’s eye. Any visitor to the farm will agree with me once they have seen it. Truly something special. But my hunting experiences on Ruigtevley Game Farm have all given me special memories. For me, my first waterbuck bull and zebra were probably the highlights, but every hunt here is special. Both accommodation options are very comfortably equipped and the Boomhuis is a must for a father and son hunt. I would definitely recommend Ruigtevley Game Farm because you can be sure that Martin and his team will look after you on a nice challenging ethical hunting experience.
Ruigtevley Game Farm is a professionally set up and managed game farm. Perfect for the seasoned and novice hunter. Perfect for rifle and bow hunters. Awesome hides and watering holes. Beautiful facilities and a great team, from the Owner, PH and guides! You will struggle to find a better environment to hunt in the South African bushveld.
Dear fiends let me tell you there is hunting and then there is hunting, but at Ruigtevley we experienced a hunt that is unique in the sense of a hunting outfitter that actually cares for his clients like family. Something that will always stay with me is those moments in time when upon arrival, it’s like time stops for a while, when you get out the bakkie alongside the hunting house the atmosphere that greets you here is like a genuine bushveld calmness that is very rare.The visit to the waterhole where the Sables come to drink is very special as this is a truly beautiful traditional African antelope true to the bushveld. At Ruigtevley there is lots of hunting opportunities from Impala to Kudu. I also got a whole lot of smoked cheese grillers, from a monster female warthog, which is super with a scrambled egg breakfast.
At the tenthouse one could easily meet up with the Red- hartebeest which in my opinion is very fine venison. At Ruigtevley there is ample opportunities for bow hunters, there is a camouflaged hide where one can wait on the Zebras coming to nibble game pellets.
I personally appreciated the all facilities at Ruigtevley. One goes to the bush to rough it up but here there is harmony between exactly that and luxury. It takes a fine eye to get the hunter’s house to be comfortable and when one step outside to the Lapa braai area it is spot on, working perfectly as a braai area during the cold and sometimes windy winter nights. Just a couple of yards away is a decent brick builded sturdy shooting table pointing down to the one hundred metre shooting range , which gave me hours and hours of pleasure.
And then of course the cherry on top is by far to get comfortable on the deck of the tenthouse and enjoy a timeless bushveld sunset. Remember your binoculars as various animals comes in sight and settling in for the night , this experience is not explainable but one need to experience it personally to fully comprehend. I can really recommend hunting at beautiful Ruigtevley.
My hunting trip at Ruigtevley is one of my fondest memories. The fauna and flora is typical of the Thabazimbi area, but the bushveld at Ruigtevley is not quite as dense as it typically found in this part of the world, making it slightly easier to find game. The hosts are exceptionally helpful people, who care for their guests, workers and the environment. The accommodation is clean and fully equipped with everything you might need – whether you are hunting or just relaxing in the bush. All in all, I had an extremely positive experience at Ruigtevley and will definitely visit there again – it is highly recommended.
I hunt frequently at Ruigtevley there is an abundance of game and sightings are frequent. The accomodation is of high standard and the service during the stay is excellent.

Ruigtevley Game Farm is the perfect destination for a relaxing family getaway. We are always greeted very warmly by Martin and his team, and we always feel immediately welcome. The staff is very friendly and hospitable. All the necessary facilities are available on the farm and the accommodation is very nice, clean and tidy.
